Why do containers use plywoods?

Date:2024.09.06

A container is not just a big box assembled with iron sheets, it also has a layer of plywood at the bottom. Why is that?

steel has disadvantages such as being heavy and easy to rust. The use of plywooding in containers can effectively reduce the transportation weight. In addition, these plywoods have been treated with drug fumigation and are put into use only after meeting the standards of relevant departmentsThe humidity of sea transportation is high, and wood can absorb a small amount of water vapor to keep the goods dry. Otherwise, when there is a temperature difference between the inside and outside of the container, the water vapor generated will fall directly on the goods, which is not conducive to the storage of goods. In order to prevent the goods from moving during container transportation, it is usually necessary to nail the pallets of goods to the plywood of the container with nails.Wood has a certain degree of elasticity. When heavy objects pass through the bottom of the container, it can return to flatness in a short time without causing a dent in the bottom of the container.Compared with steel floors, plywoods are easier to replace and repair, and there is no need to go through the process of steel rust removal and spray painting.
